  327.131.  Applicant for license as architect, qualifications. — 1. Any person may apply to the board for examination and license as an architect who is over the age of twenty-one, is of good moral character, and is a graduate of and holds an accredited degree from an accredited degree program from a school of architecture and has acquired at least three years of satisfactory architectural experience. Prior to January 1, 2012, any applicant who possesses the age and character qualifications as provided in this subsection and who has acquired a combined total of twelve years of education, above the high school level, and satisfactory architectural experience may apply to the board for examination and licensure* as an architect. Beginning January 1, 2012, all new applicants shall hold an accredited degree from an accredited degree program from a school of architecture.

  2. The board shall provide by rule what shall constitute satisfactory architectural experience, based upon recognized education and training equivalents.

  3. Beginning January 1, 2002, each applicant who has graduated with an accredited degree from an accredited degree program from a school of architecture shall complete the intern development program (IDP) as defined in the IDP Guidelines: Intern Development Program, 1994, as published by the National Council of Architectural Registration Boards, as amended. Completion of the intern development program shall be deemed to be satisfactory architectural experience.
